In addition to the company’s power plant, which uses about 4.6% of its own power, it can also supply 1.8 billion kWh of electricity to the power grid each year, which can save power costs of 800 million yuan for Baotou Steel and create a profit of 400 million yuan.
At the same time, since these gasses were used to burn and discharge in the past, the completion of this project will greatly reduce the overall energy consumption of Baotou Steel and basically eliminate gas pollution.
According to Cui Chen, Chairman of Baotou Iron and Steel Group, Baosteel Group's blast furnace and coke oven have also applied residual pressure and waste heat recovery power generation technology in recent years. Last year alone, Baosteel's self-generation of gas, waste heat, etc. reached 1.348 billion kWh, equivalent to more than 1 million tons of coal for the whole year, and reduced electricity purchase costs by 519 million yuan.
Due to the outstanding energy conservation and environmental protection work, Baotou Steel was successively listed as the first batch of circular economy pilot units in China, and became the first steel eco-industrial park in China that has passed the review of the State Environmental Protection Administration.
