Joachim Schmidt, Head of Sales at Mercedes-Benz Sales, said: “Our first-half performance has been growing very well. Mercedes-Benz car sales have seen double-digit growth in many markets. Our goal is to achieve this year’s growth. We will maintain this growth momentum for half a year."

In the first half of 2011, the BRIC countries were the major markets for Mercedes-Benz car sales growth. Among them, Mercedes-Benz sales in the Chinese market in the first half of this year hit a new high of 92,200, a year-on-year increase of 52.3%. In addition, Mercedes-Benz cars in the first half of this year in India, Russia and Brazil market growth were 40.3%, 70.6% and 34.7%.

In the first half of 2011, Mercedes-Benz sold 12.3 million vehicles in its German home market, which was a year-on-year increase of 0.5%. Mercedes-Benz’s sales in the United States, the world’s second largest market, were 110,900 units, an increase of 7%.
