Recently, the Ministry of Commerce and the National Development and Reform Commission issued a document jointly to report the results of the assessment of auto and auto parts export bases in 12 countries across the country. Liuzhou Auto and Parts Export Base in Guangxi ranked the 6th in the country in the assessment.

The assessment expert group organized by the Ministry of Commerce and the National Development and Reform Commission believes that Liuzhou, as the second batch of national automobile and auto parts export base cities, since its licensing in September 2007, has focused on industrial development as its core, and has been building for ASEAN and radiating globally. The state-level auto and auto parts export base is the target. It gives priority to the planning guidance, policy support, financial support, park construction, platform construction, and intellectual support, and promotes the development of bases and auto industry clusters. With the promotion, the scale of the industry has been continuously growing, the ability of technological innovation has been continuously improved, the effectiveness of product structure adjustment has been remarkable, the effect of industrial agglomeration has become prominent, and new breakthroughs have been made in the development of new energy vehicles.

At present, Liuzhou City is the only city in the country that has SAIC, Dongfeng, FAW, and CNHTC's four major auto group production bases (including SAIC, Dongfeng, and FAW as vehicle production bases). From 2007 to 2010, Liuzhou's auto and auto parts exports amounted to US$478 million, with an average annual growth of 48.2%, and exports to more than 50 countries and regions such as ASEAN, the Middle East, Africa, the Americas, and Russia, among which the proportion of exports to ASEAN accounted for More than 40% of the city’s total exports of automobiles and components. Liuzhou has become the “bridgehead” for China’s entry into the ASEAN automotive product market. The export of automotive products has also become an important component of the Liuzhou automobile industry and an important carrier for transforming the growth mode of foreign trade.

In 2010, the total output value of the automobile industry accounted for more than 40% of the total industrial output value of Liuzhou, making it the largest pillar industry in Liuzhou.
