The new plant will be built in Harbin City, Heilongjiang Province and will be located in the same province as the Jiamusi plant, which is the harvester factory of John Deere in China. The new plant's manufacturing process will include metal processing, spraying and product assembly.
"Our experience in China shows that Heilongjiang's agricultural status plays an important role," said David Iverett, president of Deere Global Agriculture and Turf Equipment. “At the project planning stage, local leaders also attached great importance to this project.â€
The groundbreaking ceremony for the new plant will be held in the third quarter of 2011 and is expected to start production at the end of 2012. The plant will become Deere's seventh production base in China, and the remaining factories, including the two joint ventures, have served the Chinese market for many years.

Deere today announced that it will establish a new manufacturing base in northeast China to meet the region’s growing demand for large-scale agricultural machinery products. The new plant will manufacture large and medium-sized tractors, sprayers, seeders and harvesting equipment. Deere Company stated that the initial investment of the project is about 80 million US dollars.
