According to reports, Dow recently stated that it plans to build a new propylene glycol (PG) plant with a capacity of 150,000 tons/year in Thailand. The plant is expected to be put into operation in 2013. The new plant will use propylene oxide (PO) made by HPPO technology developed by a joint venture company that Dow holds. The joint venture is currently building a PO plant with a capacity of 390,000 tons per year in Thailand and is expected to start production in the second half of this year. Dow's new PG plant will provide Thailand with a reliable source of local supply.
